Whole-Home Filtration
Filtered water at every tap, not just the kitchen
A whole-home system is installed where the water line comes into your house, so the shower, the washing machine, the bathroom sinks and the kitchen all get filtered water. Carbon filtration is the workhorse here: it is what reduces the disinfectant taste and smell that city water carries.

Helps with
What it fixes
- Chlorine or chloramine taste and smell from the tap
- Water that smells like a pool in the shower
- Wanting filtered water everywhere, not one faucet
- Pairing with a softener for one complete system
How it works
- The system goes on the main line where water enters the house.
- Water passes through a filter media tank sized for your home's flow.
- Every faucet, shower and appliance downstream gets the filtered water.
Good for anyone who notices the taste or smell of their tap water, and the usual partner for a softener when you want one system that handles both.
Questions
About whole-home filtration
Does Houston use chloramine?
The City of Houston does. Its 2025 water quality report lists chloramines as the disinfectant in its main system, averaging 2.8 ppm in the distribution system. If you are on a MUD, check that district's own annual report.
Is whole-home filtration the same as a softener?
No. Filtration is about taste, smell and disinfectant. Softening is about hardness minerals. Plenty of homes need both, and they install together.
